(3RP): It is said that truly traumatic wounds can leave an impression on the bearer's soul; one that can't be healed by any form of magic or science. These scars remain in place through transformation and alteration, bearing witness to just how permanently embedded in a person's psyche the experience in question was. In Sam's case, the scar he bears on his face, once a constant reminder of the fateful night where his courage failed, became a reminder to never ever give up in the face of adversity, no matter what the odds.

: This heavy armor is among FenrisCo's standard offerings in the lines of personal physical protection. Combining a kevlar/titanium mesh with steel-shelled cermet trauma/ballistic plates, this armor is rated to stop up to and including both high power rifle rounds AND powered autoblades (read: chainsaws). Of course, it being heavy armor, it is indeed fairly heavy, which makes it a good thing that Sam's somewhat of a pack mule with concern to these things.

: A mil-spec semi-automatic twelve-gauge shotgun with large ghost ring sights and a aramid-polymer stock. Rated to function in all environments, it will cycle both low-power and magnum loads, and features an extended magazine running the entire length of the barrel. A fairly simple firearm in most aspects, it nonetheless features a patented gas-operated piston-actuated bolt, which gives it possibly one of the fastest shotgun actions commercially (or militarily) available. If this isn't in his hands, it's hanging in a low front carry with a three point sling, ready to be brought into action quickly.Claymore (d50 damage, melee slashy)
: Sam's primary weapon for the moment and biggest mystery. This was laying by his bedside as he awoke upon his entry to MSFHigh in the nurse's office, with only the tag "To Remember Times Past" affixed to it. The large blade is meticulously crafted and incredibly sharp, its balance point just forward of the hilt. Five small metal studs run along the length of the crossguard, and the grip is wrapped in what appears to be a synthetic material. A large pommel weight rests at the bottom of the grip, preventing the weapon from being totally unwieldy. The blade was shattered on a horrific night, but reforged stronger than before with the addition of a otherworldly alloy. The blade's scabbard is a large hardened leather-like sheath, which Sam usually wears across his back, mouth towards his right shoulder. : Designed primarily as a survival knife, with a blade designed more for chopping and carving than actual combat, it like most knives can be pressed into service as a weapon if push comes to shove. Made of an advanced steel resistant to rust, tarnish, chipping, bending, breaking, dulling, and weathering, the knife never needs to be sharpened or maintained in any fashion. Of course, Sam, a creature of habit as he is, will every once in a while forget this and attempt to sharpen it, which is mostly an exercise in pointlessness. : This weapon, the redesigned form of the a gift from Rei, looks like an red, oversized breech loading handgun, though where one would normally find a barrel is instead a focusing array for the intense mana beam it can put out, thus making this in essence, a magic pistol. It fires shells designed by Rei which have been loaded with a pre-cast spell, which the gun activates when Sam pulls the trigger. Sam wears this on a holster on his right leg.
Visual description: White male with a powerful, resilient build, short hair, and depending on the situation, either a focused expression or a relaxed smirk. Wears a blue military-type combat uniform when in the field, a dress version of the same for class, and a beat up denim jacket and faded jeans as street wear. Only notable mark is a single scar on his face, of which the details about are... striking, to say the least.
Personality: Sam is easy-going, but fairly quick on the take, and jumps at opportunities if they present themselves. However, he has a strong sense of justice, and has no compunctions placing himself in harm's way to stave off another's danger. In the field or on a task, he is resourceful, focused, and alert.
Background: Sam grew up on a farm in a region of the United Republic of Marnia best described as a grain belt; other than trees and hills, there really wasn't much else in the area to interact with. For the early years, he was content to simply wander around the woods when he wasn't attending to the usual duties of farm life, but he soon found himself desiring something bigger. After an uneventful high school career, he decided now was the time to seek out his destiny, and enlisted into the military as an infantryman. Six grueling months of basic and advanced infantry training later, he was shipped out to the front lines.
His introduction into MSF High is still not totally understood. All that Samuel remembers is that one moment he was making a dash across an open field two hundred paces in front of the rest of his group to take a look at an advancing armor column, and the next, artillery fire was raining down upon him like angry beads of hail. The worst part was he recognized the sounds; those were friendly shells dropping on him. Short of an absolute miracle, the likelihood of surviving an artillery attack sans any sort of hard cover was nil, so in submission he simply closed his eyes and hoped to hell that when the squad found what was left of him, the jackass who'd ordered this bombardment would took a long drop off a short rope.
To both his and their surprise, this wouldn't happen, not because of a lack of the latter, but because of the former; his body would never be recovered, despite the best efforts of his fellow soldiers. A formal inquiry would be raised, but without any evidence of his death, Johnson's status would be marked as M.I.A., and charges were never presented against the officer who had ordered the artillery strike.
Oddly enough, Sam would find himself in a hospital bed, a situation not entirely unfamiliar to him. However, that would possibly be the only thing he could make that statement towards...
